Ayurvedic Treatment (Ayurvedic Massage or Abhyangam)

Ayurveda recommends a daily regimen of Ayurvedic treatments for the promotion of over all health & wellbeing. Ayurvedic Massage or Ayurvedic Treatments are most common & basic among this regimen. The word Abhyangam (Ayurvedic Massage) is a sanskrit term. It is a prime Ayurvedic Treatment, which is made up of two words “Abhi” means “into or towards” and “ang” has a root meaning of “movement’. So “Ayurvedic Treatment” or “Ayurvedic Massage” means to move or facilitate energy in right direction into the body whilst pushing toxins towards the body’s eliminatory systems.

Ayurvedic Massage is a gentle but firm warm oil Ayurvedic Treatment. In this Ayurvedic Treatment 1 or 2 practitioners work in synchronized harmony. Ayurvedic massage activates and gently awakes the entire body. Special herb-infused Ayurvedic oils are slowly warmed up and gently massage is done, in this Ayurvedic Treatment. Oils used in Ayurvedic Massage, are sterile before use and are chosen according to the clients’ prakruti (psychosomatic constitution or dosha) . Prakruti Analysis is very important aspect for any Ayurvedic Treatment.

Ayurvedic massage is deeply relaxing and harmonizes, detoxifies, strengthens and revitalizes the entire body. Abhyangam also improves lymph flow and stimulates the immune system. Furthermore, whilst providing a tired person with new energy, it simultaneously calms and strengthens the nervous system. After the Ayurvedic Massage, the person is directed to take a herbal steam bath followed by a hot shower. This Ayurvedic Treatment is commonly referred as “Kerala Ayurvedic Massage”.
